Dr. Arthur L. David is a native of the state of Illinois, a graduate of the Tilden Technical High School of the city of Chicago.

He graduated from Lane College with high honors, with a B.A. degree; from Phillips School of Theology with a Master of Divinity degree; from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with the Master of Arts degree, and from The Middle Tennessee State University with a Doctor of Arts degree. He has done further study at the University of Memphis, the University of Tennessee, the University of Missouri at Rolla, and Jackson State Community College.
Dr. David is a member of the NAACP, SCLC, Kappa Kappa Psi Band Fraternity, Sigma Theta Epsilon Christian Service Fraternity, Phi Alpha Theta Historical Fraternity, Pi Gamma Mu Social Science Fraternity, and the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

He serves on the Board of Directors for the Milan Health Foundation and formerly was a member of the Board of Directors for the Jackson-Madison County Chapter of the American Red Cross. In addition, he is a member of several civic and religious organizations in the Jackson and West Tennessee Area.

Dr. David has been in the ministry for more than 50 years. He has pastored churches in Georgia, Nebraska, Illinois, and Tennessee. He presently serves as the pastor of the St. Paul C.M.E. Church in Jackson, Tennessee. The David ministry to St. Paul has extended beyond the norm (eight years). He has pastored St. Pal since July of 1996.

In addition to his pastoral history, Dr. David has been an academician for more than 44 years as a part of the Lane College family. He served in every capacity at the college including Instructor of Religion and Dean of the Chapel, Assistant Professor, Exchange Professor, Associate Professor, Full Professor, Chairperson of the Social Sciences Division, Dean of the College, and Interim President for more than seven (7) months. In addition to his service at Lane College, Dr. David has been a part of the faculty at the University of Tennessee at Martin, Motlow State Community College, and Middle Tennessee State University. He is the only person elected by the Board of Trustees of Lane College as a Professor Emeritus, one of the most distinguished honors one can receive.

He is a husband of more than 46 years to Mrs. Martha David and the father of two children, Alexis Raenise Womack (Brian Keith, I) and Sean LaCurtiss David (Emily). Dr. & Mrs. David have four beautiful grandchildren, who are loved very dearly. The grandchildren include Brian Keith Womack, II, Sarah RaeSean Antoinette Womack, Sean LaCurtiss David, III, and Arthur LaCurtiss David, II.

Dr. David is an author of several books, a lecturer of serious magnitude, an educator dedicated to the learning process, a minister of the Gospel of Jesus, and a true and dynamic spirit of God.
